Olympus Dive Center offers Drift Diver training for those wishing to travel to locals where drift diving is an everyday event, like Cozumel, West Palm Beach, Jupiter Beach and Rainbow river Florida.  Drift dive training will broaden buoyancy skills and open up diving opportunities throughout the world.

The Fun Part

Gain the knowledge and skills to safely dive in a drift current. Diving in a current can be both relaxing and exhilarating.  You may slowly glide over a reef or zoom over an underwater landscape so fast it feels like flying.  By the end of the Drift Diver Course, you'll have the confidence to go with the flow.

What You Learn

Drift diving can feel like you're flying underwater.  In the PADI drift diver course from Olympus Dive Center you will learn drift diving tips from your instructor, and practice buoyancy control, navigation, usde of surface signaling equipment and buddy communication.

 You will learn:

  • Drift buoyancy control skills
  • Drift surface signaling  - float and or Delayed Surface Maker Buoy (DSMB)
  • Safety stops whilesdrifting

 

  • Entry Techniques
  • Buoyancy Check
  • Descent techniques
  • Drifting with a buddy or team
  • Ascent procedures and safety stops
  • Exit techniques

Prerequisites

To take this course, you must be:

  • A PADI Junior Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification from another training organization)
  • 12 years old

The Scuba Gear You Use

You use all the basic scuba gear including a dive computer and other specialty gear

The Learning Materials You Need

PADI's Drift Diver Manual. You will use it as a guidebook to improve your diving skills and prepare for new experiences and adventures

Price: $220/person

  • Class size is limited to 4 students
  • Weekend or weekday scheduling formats, year around

  *Students must provide their own personal items including mask, fins, snorkel, booties, gloves, regulator, BCD, and tanks. We have rentals available for the regulator, BCD, dive computer, wetsuit, and tanks.

*Boat dives or trips to a drift diving locale are required for an additional fee. Your experience level will determine which trips you need to complete the course. If you book this course On-line you will be contacted by our staff to determine and reserve the appropriate trip(s).

Your Next Adventure

The Diver Propulsion Vehicle course introduces you to scuba diving with underwater scooters, which can come in handy while drift diving.
